The Day of Signs......

Last week I headed on a road trip with a couple of 80yr olds! The trip in the car alone was an adventure; listening to both of their stories, hearing them argue (because neither of them is ever wrong), and holding on for dear life as speed limits didn't seem to matter! We headed to Elwood, Indiana. What's there? The Red Gold Factory!!!! I have a deep love for tomatoes, tomato juice, chili, cooking with spaghetti sauce, salsa, and about anything else that involves tomatoes, so it seems logical to hit up factory prices for things I use on a daily basis. (If you have never been and are interested let me know...... Definitely worth the trip) Best bargain for me - case of tomato juice (12 large cans) for $7.00!! We had the vehicle loaded to the top with cases of stuff:)

Along the way there, we kept seeing signs that either made us laugh, wonder how old it was, or at least cause us to strike some sort of conversation about the sign. I decided I should start taking pictures of some of them to help us remember our day! There's nothing like an antique sign to laugh about!

We also stopped at The House of Glass in Elwood. The shop had beautiful glass paperweights, candle holders, lamps, and so much more. While we were there, they were actually making paperweights in the shop, so we were able to watch them. It was very interesting, and the owner Joe Rice did a wonderful job explaining the art of glass and answering all of our questions. What a neat place to find in Elwood, and of course....... It had some antique signs!
