We had an adventurous day off on Saturday. Our 1st stop was was Tumaini. It is a safe place for street children to go, and it teaches alternatives to living on the street. These children have all different backgrounds, ages, and stories. Some are orphaned, some are from the poorest of families, and some have only the clothes on their backs, yet they all share one thing. . . They live on the street.
The children had been given a project a while back that included giving each child a disposable camera. They were then supposed to go into the community and take photographs of how they lived and what street life was like. They then picked the one picture that they felt most described living on the streets. On Saturday these photos were on display and up for silent auction. The kids loved taking us around and explaining the pics. We found out that at the end of the day they raises $1200.00 which is amazing. That is enough to send some of the children to school.
