Draw, Cut, Roll, Glue = A Paper Bead

Today the kids taught us how to make jewelry that they sell to help raise money for Return Missions. It was so much fun learning from these kids, and seeing the beautiful jewelry that they can make. I was amazed and had so much fun!!!

The process for making paper beads: (Ugandan style!)

1st - measure out 2cm marks on a piece of magazine-type paper

2nd - connect the marks with diagonal lines using a ruler. These will form the long triangles for cutting

3rd- cut the triangles out

4th- roll the paper, keeping a small hole in the center for the string

5th- glue the end of the roll with a little bit of craft glue (they used a small twig from a tree as an applicator of the glue)

6th - you have a completed paper bead!

7th - string the beads all together so they can be varnished. Varnish them on day 1, 2 , and 3 and let them dry between days. The beads will then be complete to make into necklaces, earrings, bracelets, keychains, and more!

They also showed us how they make jewelry from different types of wooden beads. They are very talented! I could not believe how quickly they had made a bracelet and had it on Deanne's wrist!
