Goodbye Uganda, Hello Ethiopia

Today was our last day in Uganda. We had a wonderful breakfast and lunch prepared by Alex, packed our bags, left donations for the children, said goodbye to Pastor Samuel and Sarah, and made one last walk down the red dirt road to visit the kids. We were anticipating to just see the younger children because the older ones were in school, but much to our surprise, the older children had been let out of school early to say goodbye to their mzungu friends. We had a wonderful visit with a final song by David and Joel, photos taken with each of the kids, a chance to see their school uniforms, last slides down their slide, and goodbyes all around. It was a beautiful day with no rain - a few tears - but no rain! Please pray for these children of Return and the children and families of Uganda. Special friendships were made and hearts were touched.

We loaded the van and headed towards the airport. Along our way, we had enough time to stop at Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa and chief reservoir of the Nile. It lies mainly in Tanzania and Uganda but borders Kenya as well. Among the freshwater lakes of the world it is exceeded in size only by Lake Superior in North America, its area being 26,828 square miles (69,484 square km.) Here's a map that shows it well. Kampala, Uganda is where we have been, Lake Victoria is where we stopped on our way to the airport, last year I stayed In Eldoret, Kenya which is on this map, and we are flying to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which is North of Kenya.

Next stop: Ethiopia
